The San Rafael based non-profit serving immigrant communities in Marin is pleased to welcome a new E.D. as of December 1. Melissa Sherman will take over from Founder and 15-year Director, Gail Siegel, who remains with ForWords as a VP for Academic Affairs.

Melissa brings extensive experience in leading youth development programs for non-profits. She founded Beyond Bullies a bullying prevention program adopted by school districts throughout California. She has designed and facilitated parental and organizational workshops improving awareness of social isolation, mental health, cyber-bullying and relational aggression. Melissa has presented at the NCAA Teen Violence, Asian American Advancing Justice, and Special Needs Network conferences. As a champion for youth Melissa has managed community-based programs for the Girl Scouts of Northern California tripling the number of schools served in forging new partnerships with agencies impacting the underserved. She comes to us from a consultancy dedicated to youth in both the for-profit and non-profit worlds. Melissa lives in Santa Rosa with her dog Archie.
