ForWords has created and been involved in a variety of unique projects involving the 10 literacies from publication of student writing to classroom debates and panels, public presentations, student panels, PSAs, formal essays and video presentations combining history, English, science and math, documentaries, college exploration, business plan to writing resumes and college applications. “I’m Gonna Be Myself” – A Documentary Movie
Community Partnership with Youth Scholarship Program (San Rafael)
This documentary, created by thirty middle school and high school students, offers the viewer the opportunity to engage in issues of gender, culture, and individuality.
Human Rights Project
School Partnership with Banyan Integrated Studies, San Rafael High School
ForWords teachers and artist in residence partner with Banyan each semester to create an integrated study that connects global issues with classes in English, History, Science, and Physical Education.
School Partnership with Helms Middle School
This project is a collection of poetry written by Helms Middle School students in partnership with ForWords master teachers and the eighth grade English teacher. Students wrote original poems based on compelling photographs.
Huckleberry Youth Services Wellness Academy
Community Partnership with Huckleberry Youth Services Wellness Academy
Students created digital maps of their life journey’s, wrote about the challenges and dreams they face, and presented their projects to the community.

Community Partnership with Precita Eyes
ForWords Literacy Lab spearheaded a project with thirty middle school and high school students to create the first community mural in the Canal area of San Rafael.
